Lisa was raised outside of Chicago and came to the Bay area via San Diego and Tübingen, Germany. Her interest in the law came from her passion for social justice and fairness in employment. Lisa originally was a Maritime law practitioner, before shifting to employment law. During her time as an employment law attorney, she represented men and women who faced discrimination and harassment in their workplaces. She also represented individuals in wage and hour claims; including several “House Mothers” against a “Gentlemen’s Club.” In 2006, her focus changed to insurance defense where she defended various companies in products liability cases. Although representing companies was seemingly incompatible with her passion for social justice, it provided Lisa an understanding of the complexities and nuances corporations may face.
With this knowledge, and ability to see both sides of a story, Lisa realized there is a larger market to be served by her expertise. After nearly fifteen years in law firms, Lisa opened her own practice. Through her firm, Lilac Law Group LLP, Lisa brought a balanced approach to litigation between landlords and tenants while developing an Estate Planning and Probate practice. Lisa will continue developing her Estate Planning and Probate at Coddington Hicks & Danforth and is furthering her studies to grow her practice by pursuing an LLM in tax at University of San Francisco.
Lisa resides in Alameda with her partner, her daughter, and a fat cat. When she is not practicing law – she can be found playing, coaching or watching (ice) hockey. Lisa also enjoys as much time as possible with daughter, which means attending dance recitals and theater productions. Lisa is a proud and active volunteer with the Alameda County Food Bank and has also enjoyed volunteering with the Alameda County Bar Association ‘Lawyer in the Library’ program.
